Build Your Business Without Friends and Family

Your friends & family love you. And they want to save you from this bad thing called MLM ... and they know nothing about it.

Here's my belief: Go build your business.
* Talk to like-minded people.
* Target your market.
* Build your business.
* Get into positive cash.
* Get your car allowance, whatever your company offers ‚
- and your family will still be there. Go talk to them after you already have built a positive cash flow.
Or talk to them about your products. Maybe you have awesome products they can buy from your website. Do that.
But do NOT talk to friends & family about a business! Don't do it.

Here's what's magical. When you're in positive cash, you walk differently. You talk differently. You have this attitude, this positive-ness. And your friends & family will want a part of that. They cannot tell you, "This doesn't work" when it's working. You're driving your new bonus car, or you won a company-paid trip to Italy, how can they tell you it doesn't work?
To be long-term successful, you will need a marketing system anyway. You will have to be able to tap into the cold market anyway. So you may as well go ahead and set that up first. Get that working, get successful, and then your friends & family will fall in line.

Why "Spillover" Will Not Benefit Your MLM Business

Spillover is another scam companies run on people in MLM network marketing .

The worst thing you can ever do building your business is to create fear of loss. It's the worst way to build your business. Oh, yes, it definitely works - to get people in. But you have a totally false business, because you've got a bunch of people, and none of them ever does anything.
Many companies that do a powerline - or even a binary or a matrix - focus their promotion talk on spillover.

Now, I have met people who have gotten spillover, definitely. BUT - none of the people that were spilled over on them ever did anything! Why?

Because the promise of "spillover" creates a welfare mentality.

What happens when you tell people, "Oh, get in NOW, and you are going to get spillover!"
They're afraid of losing something for nothing. So they do get in now - and then they sit and wait for all that spillover to make them rich.

Isn't That A Wonderful Business Plan?
It's like joining a binary because you can get a position that already has $1 million volume in the strong leg. The reality is, you don't make a dime, unless you build the weak leg, But people get so worked up about losing that "$1 million position", they join - and never do anything, and never earn any income.

So never forget those words, powerline & spillover. Anytime you see them, their purpose is to promote the welfare mentality. Something for nothing, something for nothing, something for nothing.
The fact is, you are in network marketing. Network marketing is a business that takes work. It's net-work marketing, ok? it's not net-free marketing. It's not net-spillover marketing. It's not net-zero marketing, it takes work. Anything you do that promotes the "something for nothing" mindset will not work. End of story.

But you will draw in a bunch of couch potatoes who are convinced that you are going to build it for them. Matter of fact, you can even give them your bank account number, and you'll just pass the money directly to their account. They don't have to leave the couch. They can stay on the couch, drink their beer and watch a football game. No problem.

Whatever company or whatever distributor is saying them to you, that is not the company or the person you want to depend on long-term. They will not be successful. Keep on looking. There are lots of good companies & MLMers out there. Keep looking, and you'll find the right mentor.

GREED & EGO: The Curse of Network Marketing.

Every time we have ever seen a company or down line implode and disappear, it does so because of the same 2 reasons: GREED and EGO.
True leaders are the Mentors who dedicate themselves to their teams success. It's never about the money. No Money Focus = No Greed.

Build people and people will build the business.

People are people. They are not a number. They have goals, dreams & desires. Network marketing is not a sales business in itself. Network marketing is a teaching & mentoring business. So the track record & attitude of leadership is critical.

When you've joined a business and someone calls you, telling you to make a list of your friends & family, I can promise you that they do not have a system.

"Friends & family" is what has been forced upon us for the last 50 years, and that is the reason for such high failure rates in MLM.
It's Really All About Target Marketing
You've got to find people who will raise their hand, looking for you and/or your product, your service, your opportunity.
Too often, somebody calls you up, pitching you. They don't even know who you are. They don't care who you are. They don't care anything about you.
I've heard certain network marketing leaders say, "It's a relationship business." And many of these people have never built a relationship with anybody. Nobody on their team would want to go on a one-month cruise with them.

Some "Leaders" Don't Even Want To Be Around Their People At  a Convention!

Why? It's all about the greed & the ego. The fancy watch, fancy jewelry, fancy suit, exotic cars, being the superstar, all that stuff.
Do they ever help the person who's been squashed by life?
Do they ever pay for the next guy going through the toll gate?
Do they ever just freely give their time to mentor others, expecting nothing in return?
Do they ever use their income to buy good tools for those in their group who are obviously trying to build?
Do they make themselves available at any time when you need help?
Do they reply promptly to your emails or phone messages?
No, they don't.
Instead, it's always about greed & ego, me, me, me. It's never about the other person.
You truly have to care about people. And then you won't have the greed and the ego. And that is the kind of person who can build huge in network marketing, because you will attract people just like you!

To Your Success,
Graeme

Buying Leads is a Scam!

Buying leads is the biggest scam ever inflicted on the network marketing industry.

Why do I say that you ask?

Well you think about it for a moment. If you had a traditional brick and mortar business, would you pay people to come in to your showroom to browse, not knowing if they're even interested in buying anything you have to offer?

Of course not! It's the quickest way there is to go broke in an MLM business.

Lead vendors are just clever opportunists that have found a niche market, preying on desperate home biz entrepreneurs who've run out of friends and family to present their "opportunity" to.

Worse still! Some of the leads your upline encourages you to buy are actually generated through your own company website.
These leads are simply put through a third party. You could even call it "lead laundering".
Imagine that. You pay a joining fee to sell your company's product and then they sell you leads. They're getting at you from all angles.

Another scenario that I was a victim of in a previous company, was an up-line hotshot who was pushing his team to use traditional offline marketing methods while behind the scenes, through an independent website, he was generating large numbers of leads online and then selling them to his down line team.
Nobody in our team thought to ask where the leads were originating from because none of them knew anything about online lead generation. They were just blindly following their sponsor's instructions.

Here's what my mentor has to say about buying leads.

Most people would rather walk barefoot over hot coals than talk to strangers on the phone.

Just as there is a small proportion of people who have the ability to use offline cold marketing, there is the same small group who have the gift of being able to talk purchased leads into sales.
But as network marketing is a business of duplication, cold calling is not a strategy that will be successful to most new MLMers.

Retention rates in your organization will be much greater if your team is taught how to build relationships, using social media, BEFORE introducing the business opportunity. Attracting interested people first, makes it much easier to get on the telephone and start building some rapport....and it's certainly more effective than SPAMMING business links all over facebook!

Mentoring for Free will teach anyone in any MLM company, "not what to think but how to think"

Using Facebook for Network Marketing

Network Marketing is about connecting with people and what better means is there to connect with people all over the world than Facebook? So why then, do so many marketers build a huge list and then never have any contact with 90% of them?

The answer is simple. They’ve never been trained in how to build relationships with people first!

People are the most valuable resource in your MLM business. They are the foundation stones of your future success. I personally know of extremely successful MLM business owners who only have a few hundred Facebook friends. You see, it’s not quantity. It’s quality that makes the difference.
I’ve made it my new year’s resolution to get to know everyone on my list. It may take a few months but it’s something I believe is important if you are serious about building a strong business.

Why? Because people join people. They don’t join companies or products!

How do you feel when you go to your mail box and find it overflowing with flyers and catalogues for all kinds of useless junk? If you’re like me most of it goes straight into the bin, so what makes you think that serious network marketers are going to join you simply because you spammed your opportunity link onto their Facebook wall?

It’s the same within network marketing group pages. Many of these have been set up to exchange information between marketers but others see it as another opportunity to SPAM their link into people’s faces, unaware that they are actually damaging their own professional image in the process. The only people that will respond to this kind of marketing are desperate opportunists and tire kickers who won’t go the distance anyway.

To attract quality people, first you have to sell yourself. Show the world why YOU are the person to help them build their own empire.
If you are struggling for success in your home based business venture and have no idea how to use Facebook to its true potential. If you are just spamming your links all over the place and wondering why you are not getting quality leads, then you are in need of some real honest MENTORING.

Are You Hiding Behind Your Computer?

Watching a few network marketing forums lately, I’ve noticed people discussing the benefits of some of the many lead generation-marketing systems that seem to be popping up all over the place. I was intrigued to see people saying how great it was not to have to call their own leads. HELLO! If you’re afraid to call your own leads then you don’t have a very bright future in MLM. Sorry to be so blunt about it but MLM is a people business and the first step to building a solid down line is to establish a relationship with your lead first in order to see if your “potential business partner” has what it takes to be successful.

I also saw a comment on a mastermind forum by a so called top earner who stated that “online marketing is nothing more than traffic plus conversion”. Nothing more???!!!! It may not be for affiliate marketers who earn their income from commissions on sign ups. For anyone wanting to build a REAL MLM BUSINESS in a REAL COMPANY selling a REAL PRODUCT that will eventually establish a REAL RESIDUAL INCOME you have to learn to use the telephone. Traffic plus conversion is just the first step.
Simply relying on a marketing system that plays a numbers game, signing up anyone and everyone in the hope that some may stick is not the way to establish relationships with people.

A true mentor will teach you, first how to recognize the different personality types and secondly how to approach each one. If you’ve never been taught how to establish personal relationships then how do you expect people to join your business? And, more importantly, stick with you.
Find out how you can develop your own MLM RELATIONSHIP BUILDING SYSTEM that will teach you how to generate your own leads and attract the right people to your team NOW.

Another Overnight Success Story!

For most people coming into the network marketing industry, over night success is just an illusion.

Every day I see anonymous people posting links anywhere and everywhere in the hope that someone will click and join their “money making opportunity” so they can earn a few bucks in commissions. It’s sad really but it’s not their fault. You see, they’ve never been trained by professional network marketers. They are simply copying the same system that 97% of other marketers are using and if you haven’t heard, 97% are not making serious money.

The reality is that it’s going to take time, in some cases quite a bit of time, as well as a whole lot of effort on your part to make it happen. Access to knowledge, marketing tools and team support are an essential requirement.

Have you ever started a job or gone into a new profession without being trained? Did you go down to your local discount store and order a kit to be a lawyer, a doctor, or an engineer? Of course not - to enter those professions, you need specialized knowledge.

What about when you started a job? Did you just walk in off the street and tell them you knew all there was to know about the job and no training would be necessary? I don't think so. According to most Fortune 500 companies, it takes 6 months of being on the job before the company starts to make any money from an employee. Did you read that closely? In 6 months!!

Now why is it that people who join a program to earn extra inc0me from home give up in less than 90 days? Could they be missing an important point in life? If just learning a job takes around 6 months to be good at it, then maybe you can start to see why things haven't worked out for you in the past. In fact, Jennifer Wideman learned this from Success In Ten Steps. Click here to read her story

Self Branding in Network Marketing

Why is this so important in the network marketing industry?
Traditionally, we are taught to promote how great our company is, what kind of miracles our products can do. And generally play the "mine is better than yours game".
Today, people are bombarded with countless ads and offers left right and center. New MLM's and “prelaunch” opportunities.

There are countless opportunities being offered out there. Within your company, there are hundreds and thousands of representatives selling the same thing. Just Google your product in whichever niche market you are in, and you will see hundreds of competitors pop up in the search results.
Put yourself in your prospect's shoes for a second. What would you think if you saw another "Best Business On The Planet" Ad? or "Join X Company Now"?
Frankly...you wouldn't care at all! And you wouldn't even give it a second look.

Well that's exactly what is happening in the market place right now!

Hundreds and thousands of people are making the mistake of marketing this way! This is your time to capitalize!

So what do I market?

There may be thousands of other companies, and thousands of other products out there, but there is only one of YOU!
You must position yourself as a leader and an expert. 97% of the market place is NOT doing this, and that's why YOU have to raise your hand, stand out and add value instead of being a peddler just like everyone else.

This is a people business.

People join other people. Not companies! So start marketing YOU!

Another reason why you want to be marketing yourself and NOT your business opportunity is because it can seriously reduce the attrition rate in your organization.
The only real asset you have in this business , is the list of prospects and team members that you build over time. You don't really own any stake in your MLM business. And believe me when I say that network marketing companies can change the rules, anytime they want.

So if you want to create a real business, it has to be something that is built around YOU!
In order to successfully brand yourself, you must have something of value to offer.
The best thing you can do to increase the value in others is to first increase the value in yourself:

Educate yourself with materials that are valuable to others but few are willing to acquire. You don't need to be a 10 year veteran to be considered valuable. You are automatically valuable if you know just one thing that others don't. Just ONE thing.

So the next time you go out there and prospect for your business, don't just blatantly pitch your business opportunity and beat people over the head with it.
Give value and solutions that people can take away regardless if they join you or not.

Most importantly. TELL THE TRUTH! Too many marketers make outrageous claims of overnight success and lavish lifestyles when, for most people in this industry, that is not the case. You are offering a business opportunity, not a "get rich quick scheme".

You will continue to struggle in growing your downline if you continue to pitch your opportunity right from the start. Mentoring for Free is the system I personally use and it will show you how to master the "You Inc." concept.

If you want to experience the joy of having prospects call you in a matter of weeks after applying this system, then what are you waiting for?!
I would also highly recommend a copy of Michael Dlouhy’s Success in 10 Steps which is THE text book for "Attraction Marketing" to develop a mentoring approach that will attract endless leads and reps into your business.

If you haven't heard of Michael Dlouhy, he was a legend in this industry when Mike Dillard was still waiting tables.

I hope to see you at the top!

How do I know if My Company Has Integrity?

In 30 years in network marketing, we've learned the #1 feature you must have in place for success:

Company management experience with integrity.

People ask me all the time, "How do I know if my company has integrity?"
The answer is simple: read your company Policies & Procedures. If you can't find them on the website, it's a big red flag! Some companies say you can't read them until after you join. Big red flag!

Why are they ashamed of their P&Ps? Why don't they want you to read them? The P&Ps are YOUR contract to be in business with them - written by the company lawyers! Every time any distributor ever gets a termination letter, it says, "You have violated the Policies & Procedures." They never say you violated "Terms & Conditions." It's always "Policies & Procedures."

Most reps never actually read their P and P's. You need to do it ... it may really open your eyes. At least you'll know exactly what to look for and how to protect yourself.
How to analyze any MLM opportunity before you join.

MLM Recruiting - How To Answer The Tough Questions

Several people have asked questions recently, and I'd like to answer them here.

Most importantly, you need to understand that I, personally, do not get asked these kind of questions, because I do not target these kinds of people for my business. I don't talk to people who don't believe in network marketing.
It's crucial to your success that you target market. Target the people who already believe in network marketing. When someone raises their hand for more information, they will NEVER ask you questions like these.

OK. The reality is, not everyone is going to do that. And they will get some tough questions like
Question #1: "How much money did you make in your business?"
So I do coach people on how to answer questions like this. And your response to this question should always be, "I don't have a clue. I haven't finished collecting it all yet."
See, you never know how much of an ongoing ripple effect you'll get from what you did yesterday and the day before. How can you know how much money you're going to make when you sponsor somebody into your business?
Today, you're making $5 a week. Next month, You're making $50 a week. And the following month, you're making $500 a week - all from the business-building efforts of that one person you signed up today.
MLM is a business that will pay you a lot next year, and 5 years from now, and 20 years from now - for work you did today. The person asking you this question does not understand the amazing phenomena of getting paid every week for work you did 10 years ago.

Question #2: You've just started in network marketing and the person asks, "If this company you're promoting is so great, then why aren't you making any money from it?"
Again, this question comes from a person who does not understand or believe in network marketing. And so here you are, in the impossible position of trying to convince this person.
Building any business takes some time to build a network of customers buying your products. Someone says, "Well, a couple years ago, this guy online sold $1 million of a product the first day he offered it."
And that's true. But what you lose sight of is that his "opening day" was in the planning stages for many months, as he lined up dozens and dozens of internet marketers - each of whom had a list of thousands of subscribers - to promote his product.
If you trace that "$1 Million Day" to its origin, it goes back many years, to when all these component lists were being built.
Is it possible to make a profit immediately, from your first day? Sure. But you get the greatest network marketing rewards by training others to move your products - a result which will show up big in future paychecks.

Question #3: "Someone likes my company, but would rather join under a Heavy Hitter who knows what they're doing. How should I respond?"

The problem with joining under a Heavy Hitter is, most of them don't have time to talk to you. I had this experience myself in a previous company. They don't have time to help you build your business. Many of them - you'd be astonished to learn just how many - were actually GIVEN most of their organization by the company, to "prove" how big a person can build. And many Heavy Hitters are hard-core salespeople. They do stuff you & I could never do in our wildest dreams (and still sleep at night!).
Heavy Hitters are not into hand-holding. When you sign up with them, they expect you to get to work and build. If you don't, no problem, there are a hundred others waiting in line behind you to join with a Heavy Hitter. To them it's just a numbers game
If you need any kind of coaching, mentoring, or training, most Heavy Hitters will never do that. They consider you "dead wood." You're in their way, and you need to be swept aside, in favor of someone who already knows what to do.
As we coach people to be successful, we focus on how you need to build a relationship with people. You can't ask them to join your business before you have a real relationship with them. It will not work. And if you're getting Question #3, then you are talking to people with whom you have NOT built a relationship.
If you're not building a relationship with them, you got no chance. A friend would never choose some "Heavy Hitter" over you. If you're having that problem, you need to learn the "Colors" technology and focus on making a friend first. That strategy works long-term, it's easily taught, and it's something anyone can do.
When you target the market and then talk to people who raise their hand, you will not get these kinds of questions.

Question #4: "I don't have much money to drive around town looking for prospects. How can I conentrate my efforts to expose people to my MLM Business?"
The problem here is, your upline has got you driving around, trying to pounce on people and slam them into your business.
Network marketing is a relationship business. You should be target-marketing online. It doesn't cost any gasoline money to do that. You need to
1. Target your ideal market.
2. Get the right people to raise their hand.
3. Build a relationship with them.
4. And when the timing is right for them to be in business, they will call you.
THIS is how success works. You cannot slam people into your MLM business and have any hope of long-term success. Period.
