Why "Spillover" Will Not Benefit Your MLM Business


Spillover is another scam companies run on people in MLM network marketing .

The worst thing you can ever do building your business is to create fear of loss. It's the worst way to build your business. Oh, yes, it definitely works - to get people in. But you have a totally false business, because you've got a bunch of people, and none of them ever does anything.
 Many companies that do a powerline - or even a binary or a matrix - focus their promotion talk on spillover.

Now, I have met people who have gotten spillover, definitely. BUT - none of the people that were spilled over on them ever did anything! Why?

Because the promise of "spillover" creates a welfare mentality.

What happens when you tell people, "Oh, get in NOW, and you are going to get spillover!"
They're afraid of losing something for nothing. So they do get in now - and then they sit and wait for all that spillover to make them rich.

Isn't That A Wonderful Business Plan?
It's like joining a binary because you can get a position that already has $1 million volume in the strong leg. The reality is, you don't make a dime, unless you build the weak leg, But people get so worked up about losing that "$1 million position", they join - and never do anything, and never earn any income.

So never forget those words, powerline & spillover. Anytime you see them, their purpose is to promote the welfare mentality. Something for nothing, something for nothing, something for nothing.
The fact is, you are in network marketing. Network marketing is a business that takes work. It's net-work marketing, ok? it's not net-free marketing. It's not net-spillover marketing. It's not net-zero marketing, it takes work. Anything you do that promotes the "something for nothing" mindset will not work. End of story.

But you will draw in a bunch of couch potatoes who are convinced that you are going to build it for them. Matter of fact, you can even give them your bank account number, and you'll just pass the money directly to their account. They don't have to leave the couch. They can stay on the couch, drink their beer and watch a football game. No problem.

Whatever company or whatever distributor is saying them to you, that is not the company or the person you want to depend on long-term. They will not be successful. Keep on looking. There are lots of good companies & MLMers out there. Keep looking, and you'll find the right mentor.

GREED & EGO: The Curse of Network Marketing.

Every time we have ever seen a company or down line implode and disappear, it does so because of the same 2 reasons: GREED and EGO.
True leaders are the Mentors who dedicate themselves to their teams success. It's never about the money. No Money Focus = No Greed. 

Build people and people will build the business.



People are people. They are not a number. They have goals, dreams & desires. Network marketing is not a sales business in itself. Network marketing is a teaching & mentoring business. So the track record & attitude of leadership is critical.

When you've joined a business and someone calls you, telling you to make a list of your friends & family, I can promise you that they do not have a system.

 "Friends & family" is what has been forced upon us for the last 50 years, and that is the reason for such high failure rates in MLM.
It's Really All About Target Marketing
You've got to find people who will raise their hand, looking for you and/or your product, your service, your opportunity.
Too often, somebody calls you up, pitching you. They don't even know who you are. They don't care who you are. They don't care anything about you.
I've heard certain network marketing leaders say, "It's a relationship business." And many of these people have never built a relationship with anybody. Nobody on their team would want to go on a one-month cruise with them.

Some "Leaders" Don't Even Want To Be Around Their People At  a Convention!

Why? It's all about the greed & the ego. The fancy watch, fancy jewelry, fancy suit, exotic cars, being the superstar, all that stuff.
Do they ever help the person who's been squashed by life?
Do they ever pay for the next guy going through the toll gate?
Do they ever just freely give their time to mentor others, expecting nothing in return?
Do they ever use their income to buy good tools for those in their group who are obviously trying to build?
Do they make themselves available at any time when you need help?
Do they reply promptly to your emails or phone messages?
No, they don't.
Instead, it's always about greed & ego, me, me, me. It's never about the other person.
You truly have to care about people. And then you won't have the greed and the ego. And that is the kind of person who can build huge in network marketing, because you will attract people just like you!

Another Overnight Success Story!

For most people coming into the network marketing industry, over night success is just an illusion.




Every day I see anonymous people posting links anywhere and everywhere in the hope that someone will click and join their “money making opportunity” so they can earn a few bucks in commissions. It’s sad really but it’s not their fault. You see, they’ve never been trained by professional network marketers. They are simply copying the same system that 97% of other marketers are using and if you haven’t heard, 97% are not making serious money.

The reality is that it’s going to take time, in some cases quite a bit of time, as well as a whole lot of effort on your part to make it happen. Access to knowledge, marketing tools and team support are an essential requirement.

Have you ever started a job or gone into a new profession without being trained? Did you go down to your local discount store and order a kit to be a lawyer, a doctor, or an engineer? Of course not - to enter those professions, you need specialized knowledge.

What about when you started a job? Did you just walk in off the street and tell them you knew all there was to know about the job and no training would be necessary? I don't think so. According to most Fortune 500 companies, it takes 6 months of being on the job before the company starts to make any money from an employee. Did you read that closely? In 6 months!!

Now why is it that people who join a program to earn extra inc0me from home give up in less than 90 days? Could they be missing an important point in life? If just learning a job takes around 6 months to be good at it, then maybe you can start to see why things haven't worked out for you in the past. How do I know if My Company Has Integrity?

In 30 years in network marketing, we've learned the #1 feature you must have in place for success:

Company management experience with integrity.

People ask me all the time, "How do I know if my company has integrity?"
The answer is simple: read your company Policies & Procedures. If you can't find them on the website, it's a big red flag! Some companies say you can't read them until after you join. Big red flag!



Why are they ashamed of their P&Ps? Why don't they want you to read them? The P&Ps are YOUR contract to be in business with them - written by the company lawyers! Every time any distributor ever gets a termination letter, it says, "You have violated the Policies & Procedures." They never say you violated "Terms & Conditions." It's always "Policies & Procedures."



Most reps never actually read their P and P's. You need to do it ... it may really open your eyes. At least you'll know exactly what to look for and how to protect yourself.

Realistic Expectations of a Network Marketing Business

Most people who sign up to join a home based business opportunity do so based on hyped up images and exaggerated income projections and in some cases, outright lies. They jump in all enthusiastic with dollar signs in their eyes dreaming of mansions and exotic cars.

3 months later with their credit card account steadily climbing and with little or no income to speak of the shine has started to fade on their dream of easy wealth. They were tricked into believing that it was as simple as putting your name on a replicated website, running a few ads here and there and bingo! The money will start rolling in. The industry generates over 110 billion dollars in sales a year but 90% of home based business owners are doing it on a part time basis only or if they are full time only just making a similar income to their former corporate jobs. Only a very small percentage are earning mega incomes. But it’s no reason for despair because no other business model offers the entrepreneur the potential for unlimited income like this one does.

Although every second marketer promoting their MLM opportunity claims to be a coach, mentor or some kind of guru at certain marketing strategies, the truth is most of them are full of BS and once they have you signed up you’re on your own. But it’s not their fault because most of them have never been trained the right way to go about the business either.
Network marketing is a people business and is built on forming working relationships with real people not email addresses. A true mentor is someone who makes the effort to really get to know the people they sponsor into their organization in order to find out what makes them tick. Not all people are the same. A marketing method that works for one may not necessarily work for another.
The trick is to learn how to recognize the personality type of each person you recruit in order to steer them in the right direction based on their individual traits.

The real key to finding rapid success is to find a genuine mentor. Someone who actually has built a down line in a real MLM company and achieved financial independence from it. A mentor that can walk you through the steps it takes to find your own success formula. A mentor who can provide you with the right tools and and knowledge to enable you to go out into the real world and start building relationships with people. Because people are the key to your success in this industry not waving your product or opportunity around.

Fear Tactics in Network Marketing

There's lots of people and companies using fear to their advantage. Using terms like,
This price is only good today. Get in now while it's still free. We are giving away a new car so sign up now. It's a new pre-launch you want to get in early so you will be on top. You are missing out as each minute goes by, so sign up now. You better do it or you will miss out.
And the list goes on.....

Professional Network Marketers would never fall for any of these fear type ploys.

We know that very few pre-launch companies will make it in the long run.

When the company fails it seems like you are now on a leads list that gets sold to other companies and lead vendors.
How about all those low cost deals, then you have to upgrade if you want to go up to the next level and the next.

When will it stop? When you run out of money? When your credit card has no more credit?

The Misconception of "Make Money Online"

Most people that first get started in the “Make Money Online” space are often side tracked into thinking that all they need to do to become successful online is to join a good Network Marketing company or online business with a good product and they are “home free”.

This couldn’t be further from the truth!


The truth is, that these are the wrong action steps that the majority of newbie entrepreneurs end up making.
Almost ALL businesses, whether it’s in the MLM, Internet Marketing, Direct Sales, Affiliate Marketing or Network Marketing space, are “Product” companies. This means that they sell some sort of product that will allow you to earn income from.
The problem is, they are NOT “Marketing” companies.
This means that after you have invested, what is usually a good amount of money, into the business, you then find out that it’s YOUR responsibility to learn how to “market” the business, bring more customers in and generate sales.
Almost all companies WILL NOT teach you how to market the business. Because they honestly don’t know how!

99% of these businesses will train their new members on more traditional “prospecting” methods of creating new customers. These strategies include pitching friends and family. Prospecting in shopping malls. Buying lists online and making cold calls.

These prospecting strategies have been around since the beginning, but unfortunately can be very ineffective causing most entrepreneurs to fail.
After realizing that these methods can be quite ineffective, clumsy and time consuming, the new business owner runs around like a headless chicken, trying to find new ways of marketing the business and creating more customers so that they can generate a profit quickly and not go under.
This results in a huge waste of time and money for the business owner.

So what should have been done instead?

Remember that for every single online business you get into, it will be your sole responsibility to attract more customers towards the business no matter how amazing the product line is.
Products don’t sell themselves. People do.
And the only thing that will really help you to create more exposure and attraction to your business and products is “Marketing”.

“Marketing” is the one skill that will really make the difference between success and failure in the online business world.

So if you think about it, a new business owner should be more concerned about learning how to market online, than joining a business with the “latest and greatest” product line.
They should be spending time honing their online marketing skills so that they can create that explosive attraction to their business, that they’re looking for.
Because at the end of the day, if you can’t market your business successfully, you won’t have a business for very long.

But how do you do this?

Well the smartest thing to do, would be to get involved with a well established company that focuses heavily on teaching its members how to market businesses online like professionals.
Taking this route has a few advantages:
1. You don’t end up wasting extra money on a business that you may not know how to market
2. You learn the ins and outs of marketing online and what it takes to build a business successfully on the Internet
3. You get access to tools and resources that will allow you to leverage your time and business which leads to an increase in your bottom line
4. You allow yourself the chance to generate multiple streams of income quickly which was not possible before
5. You have the “right” tools, websites and equipment to make your business actually work
Remember, if you can’t be successful and earn income through a system that teaches you the marketing skills you need to grow your business online, then it is extremely unlikely that you would have been successful in your business anyway.

Attraction Marketing is Nothing New!

There’s nothing new about attraction marketing. Some guy named J. Christ used the concept over 2000 years ago to great effect. He positioned himself as the “son of god” and was able to establish a first downline of 12 distributors in his network marketing business. He was quickly able to give up his day job as a carpenter and concentrate on building up a huge following through random acts of kindness and passing on his wisdom free of charge to anyone who wanted to listen. This free advice was returned in the form of free meals and accommodation wherever he chose to travel.

He wasn’t the only one either. Another guy named Mohammad and another one who called himself the Bhudda (meaning enlightened one) all started similar networks. You can forget about Amway and Herbalife etc, these guys were competing for leads long before the internet and printed advertising. They did it simply by word of mouth and creating the illusion around themselves that they possessed wisdom that their followers could use to improve their lives with if implemented and followed with conviction.

They developed their businesses on such strong foundations that they spread throughout the world and split into many different sub networks all holding “opportunity meetings” in grandiose buildings called churches or temples.
J Christ’s business spread to the empire of Rome where these crafty entrepreneurs set about marketing the opportunity to every corner of the earth, using a very elaborate MLM system, squeezing subscriptions from their prospects and building a huge residual income for the upline residing in a tax haven they called the Vatican. It has survived to be one of the biggest money making ventures in the history of man.

Now it’s much easier to build your very own empire of abundance using an extremely powerful tool for reaching the masses. It’s called the Internet. Home based business, the direct marketing of products to consumers offers the greatest potential for generating unlimited incomes in the world today. It’s incredible how the vast majority of people I speak to on a daily basis are making this one SINGLE mistake that is seriously damaging any chances of them having success in their business.

Every single one of them are promoting their Network Marketing business from the front end. Both online and offline.


Let me clarify.
You have joined a Network Marketing/MLM business and believe that it is the best thing since sliced bread and in order to make the business viable, you are making a long list of your friends and inviting all of them to some sort of business presentation where they can get to know the business and product.

The Evolution of the Internet

The Internet has been around for quite some time now, but there have been some recent developments in the online world in the last few years that have brought marketing online to a whole new level. For starters, there are more qualified, working class people that are using the Internet to network, keep in touch with their friends and do business. This phenomenon has lead to the explosion in social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Squidoo just to name a few.

Also, more than ever, people are starting to realize that the Internet is a great place to market their Network Marketing business. They are able to reach a global audience, they can truly work from home, and they can use tools online to leverage their time which is just not available in offline marketing strategies. But bringing your Network Marketing business onto the Internet does have its fair share of challenges as well.

Being as diverse and massive as the Internet is, most newbie Network Marketers have no idea where to start and most have no idea what they are doing. There are way too many that spend countless hours on the computer without really doing anything productive. Some can only generate a few leads and most don’t really turn a profit.

So here are 3 tips that you can use right away to really understand how to grow your MLM business properly on the Internet.

#1. Learn To Master Different Marketing Platforms
It is essential that you get proper training on the different places that you wish to market your business on. So for example, if you have researched or decided that Facebook is one of the marketing platforms that you would like to use to grow your business on, then become a Facebook marketing pro. There is no point having 5,000 friends if you have no idea how to monetize them or turn them into leads.
Remember that marketing is a skill. And just like any skill it requires education and practice. So make sure you get the right training by becoming a member of a system, or by following mentors online who know what they are doing. Thinking that you can figure it out yourself is possible, however it can take a lot of time and most people fail miserably.

#2. Pick 2 or 3 Strategies To Focus On
After you have identified the marketing strategies you wish to pursue, pick 2 or 3 and get really good at them. Learn every aspect of each platform and tweak them until you can crank out a satisfactory number of leads from them every single day. There is no point using 10 strategies and spreading yourself too thin. This way you will not be able to gain traction in any of them and will probably leave you pissed off, frustrated and broke.

#3. Be Consistent
Once you are working on those marketing strategies, make sure you put in consistent effort and stay the course. There is no point posting one article on one site once a week! That will yield you zero results. Instead you should be posting articles every single day in the 20 or so article sites that you have identified. And remember that results do take time to blossom. So be consistent and take action every day.

By using these 3 methods and realizing that it is essential to become a marketing expert in certain areas of the Internet, it really helped my business and I started to get the results that I wanted.

Harness the Power of the Internet.

The Network Marketing industry has the power to build more millionaires than any other industry in the world. Yet thousands of network marketers constantly get cursed by failure while they are trying to reach financial freedom. So let’s see what we can do to cure them.

Curse #1: Prospecting VS. Marketing
Most network marketers are told by their upline to “prospect” and pitch other people their opportunity. This means that you are constantly chasing other people. By “marketing” your business the right way you can position yourself as a leader and attract prospects towards you and your business.

Curse #2: Pitching Uninterested People
By pitching every Tom, Dick and Harry your opportunity, you are pitching to a group of unqualified, uninterested people. By using tools available online and by using smart marketing tactics offline, you can target a specific market of interested, qualified people.

Curse #3: Running Out Of Prospects
Everyone only knows so many people and when that list is exhausted you have to resolve to buying leads and pitching random people on the street. This can be tiring and expensive. Instead of doing this, you need to be attracting people towards you by advertising and creating good and free content by using a source as abundant as the Internet.

Curse #4: Running Out Of Money
Most Network Marketers spend all their savings because they are not able to recruit enough people in their first few months. Remember that this is sales and it does take some time for your pipeline to grow. The solution is to have a Funded Proposal where you can make smaller but decent income in a matter of weeks, not months even if people DO NOT join your main MLM business.

Curse #5: Little Or No Duplication
The average Network Marketer still has a full time job. So where will they find the time to train every single one of their new recruits? It becomes an endless and tiring cycle of training new reps. Instead, there needs to be a system in place where new reps can go and plug themselves in to get all the training they need through webinars, tools and resources.

Curse #6: Repeated And Wasted Effort
Going to 10 meetings a day to pitch your business opportunity for your entire career as a network marketer can be extremely challenging. People run out of steam and it becomes very repetitive. It is easier to be able to create good content like articles and videos and post them on specific sites online which will work for you on auto pilot 24/7.

Curse #7: Unable To Build Trust Without Constant Follow Up
In order to be successful, network marketers are always playing the “follow up” game. It is essential to building trust with prospects especially when you start to hit the cold market. You can build a much more meaningful relationship with your prospects on auto pilot just by setting up your own auto responder email series and incorporating videos and other media of yourself.

Curse #8: Stuck In Prehistoric Times
Over 95% of Network Marketers out there are still stuck in prehistoric times and are using very old methods which are ineffective for most people, to try to capture modern day prospects. Why not use current forms of marketing like the Internet which are much more effective.

Curse #9: Wrong Mentality
A lot of Network Marketers out there think that this business is a “get rich quick” thing. They come in with the wrong attitude, get burnt and then wail about how all MLM’s are a scam. The sooner they understand that Network Marketing is a real business and takes time to build, the better it will serve them.

Curse #10: Over Diversifying
Spread your eggs into different baskets. That is what we are taught. We are not buying stocks and investments here however. And with Network Marketing, it is important to focus on ONE opportunity. By putting these steps together and using a system that will allow you to grow your business and create multiple streams of income to get money into your pocket in weeks not months, will really allow you to stop wasting time online and gain real traction in your Network Marketing business.
